Any pictorial evidence or rumors of me wearing hot pants, boots, and a cowboy hat should be disregarded. I'm just reminding you.
Oh yeah. You'll get pictures back when I am able to get my card reader back, which I left, rumor has it, in South Jersey.
That rumor about me breaking my scanner. Yeah, that one is true too. I stepped on it with a chair. Does that make any sense?
The rumor that my work Sedimentary Rock is the main image for an exhibition I will be included in down in Philadelphia at Adaptation in Philadelphia is true. The opening (which I will be attending) is April 26th, 2008 at 7:30pm. There are readings by authors included in the show at 8:30pm. Needless to say, I am excited.
Right now, I am eating breakfast and trying to organize my day\week\cash flow so I don't go under. It's a good balancing act.

Woke up petarded
Wow. This morning I woke up with... quite a headache.
Things I can remember from last night:
- The MFA show was interesting. There was a lot of abstract painting. The colors duke. The colors.
- There I got into a really good conversation about my mail art with Warren, Allison, Eli, and someone else. I don't talk about it much so it's nice to do.
- A group of us went to Charlotte's house. Her flat is lovely, her family is delightful, and she, like always, is 100% class.
- Told Jowel (I am not sure the spelling of her name) about my future Philly apartment. She and her boyfriend Nathan went down there looking for a space as well.
- Got into a conversation with Hasan, who, despite all reason, maintains a sense of reality that permeates drunk conversations. Too bad.
- Listened to the spanish of revolutionaries camped out in Charlotte's living room. There is something so passionate about how people communicate in Spanish.
- Got two slices of TaTa's pizza on the walk back home with LNY.
I think those are the highlights. It was a very nice night.

My little piece of the world
Since I've been home, I went on a photo hunt of the Southern Jersey Pine Barrens area on my way down to Strathmere, NJ. I also took a visit to Philadelphia to walk around, check out an apartment, and do a school assignment. Here are some pics from that.

Cool old shack that was connected to others like it. I wonder if this was a type of quasi-strip mall before it fell into disrepair.

(Polaroid Spectra Photo) I pulled off the road after seeing an old barn which had been destroyed in a fire. These were some of the remnants inside.

Piney trailer in the middle of nowhere.

(Polaroid Spectra Photo)This is where a railroad ends.

The north end of Strathmere beach. The land in the distance is part of Ocean City, NJ.

A building that is doing a poor job of trying to hide. At least it's trying though.

It was a really windy day. Some people walked, while others attempted to fly.

The entrance to Space1026, an artist collective in Philly. The exhibition inside was great, but I didn't take any pictures as you should really go see it for yourself.

(Polaroid Spectra Photo)The wall of a building with the imprint of a house that must have once stood next to it. I love when this happens.

Seven Eleven and God. Both keep the same hours of operation.

La Colombe Torrefaction is, hands down, my favorite coffee place ever. I've been visiting there since I first started coming to Philly in my early teens.

If you come there with me, it may be the only time you ever see me drink my coffee anything but black.

(Polaroid Spectra Photo)Homeless man warming himself on a heating grate, while holding a Polaroid Spectra Photo that I took of him seconds before. I wonder when was the last time, before this, that he has seen himself in a photograph.

Back from the hospital
I just got back from the hospital where I had the cyst on my wrist excised. Turns out, probably because over the past two years I had been using the method of slamming it with heavy books in an attempt to get rid of it, that there were two cysts. One had grown on top of the other. Now I have this sweet brace:

and I am indulging in my guilty pleasure of Jerry Springer on daytime television:

Thank God I don't have TV up at school :).

LABOR [ETHEREAL] Exhibition
Two works of mine, the sound piece "9,192,631,770" and the appropriated and manipulated MSDOS executable "The Jungle", are included in the online LABOR [ETHEREAL] Exhibition. The show's theme is "a collection of art works acknowledging the notion of learning through repetitive action." Thirteen other artists are included in this exhibition and the works offer interesting (and sometimes differing) insights. Some of the initial bugs and typos are still being worked out, but everything is pretty stable at the moment. Much thanks to J.D. McPherson for taking the time to put this together. A quick note
I've read the article, been watching YouTube videos of people walking through the installation, and gotten over the pretentious patent leather (or just super shiny) jacket that he's wearing in his press photo. Loris Gréaud kinda rocks.

March. In like a line.
I ordered yarn but it hasn't come yet. I am very excited about this.
This morning I tried interviewing people about New Jersey. Overcast (but warm) days do not entice a ten minute break from people even though I am taunting them with soft drink rewards.
Pilgrim (who camouflaged herself on my blanket very well) is gone for now. The house definitely feels a little emptier.

Work Update:

Now I'm just trying to keep up with things. Post-It Note reminders all over the place.

Blankets from the Floor
Okay, here is an update on life. Classes are going... some better than others. I get my second midterm back tomorrow. That's exciting. Life is chugging along. I was talking with Mercy tonight about how good of an education we think we got at Rutgers. We both concluded that it was decent, but only because we worked to find good professors and concentrate in areas of interest within our majors. She's traveling on into the world of Academia towards a P.H.D., while I am planning on moving to Philadelphia and workinh in the arts. If you know anyone in the city of Philadelphia looking for a full time Gallery Assistant, (listen, I'll take part time if you offer) who has previous experience in that field, let me know. No handouts please, I'll offer a $50 finders fee (that's a lie). As far as work, Karl is waiting to get a crocheted frame on him, but I have to wait until I make a little money and can afford nice yarn like this stuff here:

On another note, Pilgrim came home today:
ROMANBLOG just posted about Jackie Saccoccio and I really dig her work:
But then again I really enjoy the work of:
Howard Hodgkin ("The Sky's the Limit")
so I guess there's some connection there... perhaps...
Anyway.
Here is the new notreallynewbutnewtoyou Tin Kitchen screen:
That's it. Rien Rein.
